Continue to build community outside of class

Building community is central to a safe, effective environment for learners. We shared a few ways to build community in your virtual classroom, but with Engageli, you can take that a step further by facilitating community-building opportunities for learners outside your live synchronous class sessions. Instead of sharing class recordings with your learners to download and watch alone as you might on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other video-conferencing tools, you can use Engageli’s unique, asynchronous Playback Rooms to further enable peer-to-peer learning and collaboration.

Engageli's Playback Rooms provide flexibility for learners while fostering active, collaborative learning and deeper peer-to-peer connections, much like the synchronous Engageli experience. Available 24x7 through the provided classroom link, learners can join a Playback Room alone or in groups of up to 10 to continue to engage with their peers and build community.

Here are three ways you can use Engageli’s Playback Rooms to facilitate community building:

1. 1. 1. Provide supplemental instruction: Learners can meet with TAs or a group leader to participate in a supplemental review session for extra help, group office hour sessions, and exam preparation.
         
         
      2. Assign group projects: Learners can work together with material shared in the Q&A or prompts provided in the class recordings. They can also collaborate using the whiteboard in the Playback Room.
         
         
      3. Facilitate study groups: Even without a live instructor, your learners can interact with each other while watching a class recording. The shared player controls allow learners to pause the recording to discuss their responses to poll questions and summarize the groupʼs findings in the Q&A.
