  2. Active Learning and Engagement: Does it offer an engaged learning experience with built-in active learning features like peer learning, polls, multimedia content and collaborative documents?
  3. Scalability: Does it allow you to scale effective delivery to larger groups and cohorts without increasing costs?
  4. Insights and Progress Tracking: Are there data-driven insights available to monitor and enhance learning outcomes over time on both an individual and cohort level?

Engageli unique Playback rooms and collaboration spaces are a great way to learn outside of the live class, individually or with peers. Playback rooms are open classrooms where you can, independently or in a group of up to 50, access class content and engage with the material. Sitting around a virtual table, you can review class recordings and PDFs, participate in polls, ask and answer questions in the Q&A, take notes, and - if in a group - chat, talk, and learn with other classmates.

Icebreakers are essential in virtual classrooms to build a sense of community, foster engagement, and help students feel more comfortable participating. Instructors can use Engageli's interactive features for various icebreaker activities:

  1. Small group Introductions: Divide the class into small groups in breakout tables where they can introduce themselves and share a fun fact.
  2. Virtual Background Challenge: Ask participants to set a virtual background that represents something about them, then explain why they chose it.
  3. Polls: Use quick polls to ask light-hearted questions about hobbies, favorite movies, or interesting personal experiences.
  4. Emoji Check-in: Ask participants to share in the Chat how they’re feeling using emojis. This can be a fun and low-pressure way for students to express themselves

Creating a sense of community and collaboration in an Engageli online classroom involves using interactive strategies to engage learners.

  • Start with icebreakers and low-stakes questions, and use interview group share-backs for small groups to promote familiarity.
  • Incorporate regular water-cooler talk breaks for casual conversations.
  • Actively engage with learner responses in the chat to show attentiveness.
  • Rename tables before class to reflect the instruction model—using project group names, book characters, course topics, or fun themes.
  • Promote knowledge sharing by providing platforms for learners to share their expertise and facilitate peer-to-peer teaching opportunities like mentorship sessions.
  • Encourage group reflection on new information and maintain engagement with frequent interactive activities like polls, breakout room discussions, and virtual gallery walks. These strategies collectively build a supportive and collaborative online learning community on Engageli.

There is no need to set up breakout rooms for group activities. With virtual tables, you never have to “send them out” or “bring them back”. They are always there, seated around a virtual table and free to interact with each other, with content and with their instructor. Learn more about using Engageli tables for active learning here.
