Learner privacy and safety are top priorities for Engageli. We implement robust privacy measures across our platform, ensuring that only essential information is collected for educational purposes. Our privacy policy outlines how we protect user privacy. The Engageli platform has various optional settings that your institution can select to accommodate your institution’s privacy.
Operational Privacy
This is the Engageli privacy policy for both website visitors and users of Engageli products. For website visitors, the following addendum applies:

- Geolocation Information. We may request access or permission to track location-based information from your mobile device, either continuously or while you are using our mobile application(s), to provide certain location-based services. - Mobile Device Access. We may request access or permission to certain features from your mobile device, including your mobile device's camera, microphone, social media accounts, speaker, and other features. If you wish to change our access or permissions, you may do so in your device's settings.
- Mobile Device Data. We automatically collect device information (such as your mobile device ID, model, and manufacturer), operating system, version information and system configuration information, device and application identification numbers, browser type and version, hardware model Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, and Internet Protocol (IP) address (or proxy server). Functional Privacy
Engageli platform adopts various privacy options for participants:
- Institutions can configure their class recording to include or exclude learner video feeds before the session starts. Learner video streams are not recorded unless specifically enabled by the institution or instructors or unless learners raise hands, screen share
- Table conversations are never recorded. Instructors can choose to record the learner videos when they interact with the class, otherwise only their audio is recorded.
- Recordings can be marked private or public. If a recording is marked private, only class Instructors and administrators are able to see them. Otherwise learners who enter the playback room will not be able to view or watch the recordings.
- Table mode enables private conversations at tables. This feature provides learners with peace of mind during the session and encourages more open participation.
- Q&A mode allows for anonymous question submission, which can be enabled or disabled per institution preference.
- Each learner can use the Notes feature, which is private for each learner. They can take notes during the session, screenshot shared content, annotate the screenshot, and download the notes.
- Learner engagement metrics and emoji reactions can be anonymized by default, unless otherwise the institution or instructors decide.
- Learners can direct their chat messages to the entire class, staff, tablemates, or specific classmates, unless this option is disabled or adjusted by the institution or instructor.
